freesouljah Answers the Davos Question

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHOTKbk_mtA

Every year, global leaders attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to discuss how to better the world.

The Davos Question:

"What one thing do you think that countries, companies or individuals must do to make the world a better place in 2008?"

-----

I see gas stations covering our communities...they are everywhere. As if oil was our greatest natural resource. But we need to look at our future and see our children and the people in our community as our greatest
natural resource. This is where humanity's innovations and progress stem from: the people. And we are leaving too many geniuses in the gutters, unable to help steer the direction of humanity as a whole.

If there were as many community workshops/job training programs/apprenticeships as there are gas stations, then we would have an abundance of skilled & trained workers. These workers would drive innovation and inject money and positive role models into troubled neighborhoods. And it would alleviate many social ills in the process such as crime, gangs, drug use, violence, etc. These social ills are often caused by desperation and the lack of opportunities. If the opportunities were increased, the desperation would decrease.

We should be able to fill our mental gas tanks as easily as we can fill our automobile gas tanks. And many of us are out of gas.

Sincerely yours,
